Donate Life

Not all projects require a ground-up solution: sometimes they just need some new life.

New Life For an Old Site

Donate Life Northwest is a nonprofit that works to educate people in Oregon and SW Washington about the importance and impact of organ, eye and tissue donation and to increase the number of people signed up on the Oregon and Washington donor registries.

We were tasked with helping them give new life to an outdated Drupal 7 site. Frequently, sites are built with assumptions about how they will be used, and even the best plans over time are complicated by years of quick fixes and new priorities. We assessed the existing state of the build, made recommendations for how we would re-architecture the content, and charted a path forward.

We worked closely with their content team in order to come up with innovative solutions to any new problems that we encountered throughout the process, particularly relating to a complicated navigational structure that functions seamlessly in both English and Spanish using Drupal's immersive suite of translation modules.

On top of the structural changes, we were also tasked with redesign. After a round of mood boards and design comps, we built a new responsive Bootstrap-based theme that gave a fresh new look and feel to accompany the new bones.

The end result is a site that is cleaner, more intuitive for visitors and admins, and has years of life ahead of it.
