About Eclipse

We are a Portland, Oregon based web development agency, founded in 2008. Most of our work is building and supporting sites built with Wordpress and Drupal, but we tend to say yes to projects of all types if the work is interesting and within our capabilities.

Our strength as a company is built on relationships and communication - we value long-term relationships with our clients, agency partners, and team members. Our focus and priority is on building a company we all want to work for. This means:

  • We’re proud of the work we do and work with clients we respect
  • We value the time of our team members and set reasonable expectations on deliverables to maintain a respectful work/life balance
  • We look to our team members to help drive the direction of the company and the way we operate
  • We are focused on steady growth, providing a balance of job stability and steady profit which is directly passed on to team members in the form of raises and profit sharing
  • We give back to our community by dedicating 1% of revenue to volunteering and donations
  • We genuinely appreciate each other’s company and enjoy a fun, casual work environment

We’ve recently had success in forging relationships with marketing / design agencies, which has led to an influx of new projects and exciting opportunities. In order to keep up the level of quality our clients expect and to maintain work/life balance for our team, we are in search of a full-time developer to help take us to that next level. That’s where you come in!

Who We Are Looking For

The “Developer” role can vary a lot across different organizations, but at Eclipse it means that you understand how a CMS like Wordpress or Drupal functions, including plugin management, site building concepts, and the theme layer, with the ability to be involved at any of those levels. It also means that you have an understanding of basic web hosting concepts / some comfort interacting with production sites. Your experience and knowledge should make you capable of troubleshooting and resolving common CMS issues, and you should understand what you’re doing enough to communicate effectively both to our clients and internally to project managers and other developers.

Candidates with past agency experience or full-stack freelance web development experience would be especially good fits, but these aren’t strict requirements.  Being able to hit the ground running building Wordpress sites (including fluency in the theme layer with PHP and not just UI page builders) is necessary. Beyond that, if you feel like you’re a good fit based on our description of the role, we’re interested in learning about your strengths and aspirations / how you might fit in.

We value diversity and know we have room to improve in our small team. On top of skill qualifications, we’d love to hire someone who can bring a new perspective to our group.

We’re currently all located in Portland. We maintain an office in SE Portland that we all worked from pre-COVID, and are planning on returning back to a shared work environment in some capacity when it feels safe to do so. However, we’ve all become accustomed to working from home and in the future will likely continue to do so with some regularity.

It is not required for candidates to live in Portland or be willing to relocate. If you live here too, we’d love to be able to work with you / see you in person when the time is right. For remote candidates, living on the west coast or the ability to be responsive within the Pacific time zone is preferred.

  • Health and vision insurance ($0 employee contribution)
